Ward Recycling and Liebherr go wild for recycling as giraffe and cheetah join the fleet
Ward has gone wild for recycling this month, taking delivery of both a customised giraffe material handler and a cheetah wheel loader from manufacturer Liebherr. The two striking vehicles further expand Ward’s 80 strong waste management and recycling fleet, including 30 machines mainly from Liebherr’s extensive range.
Passionate about recycling and educating people about the positive environmental impact of waste management, Ward takes its zero to landfill targets and the reduction of carbon emissions seriously, but it likes to inject a bit of personality and sense of uniqueness into its fleet. Handling materials such as general waste, dry and mixed recycling and scrap metal, the giraffe and cheetah will facilitate moving, loading and sorting waste materials for recycling and processing.
Liebherr’s fuel efficient LH 30 M ‘giraffe’ material handler and L 538 P ‘cheetah’ wheel loader both have dedicated waste and recycling specifications and comfortable, operator-friendly cabs which offer excellent visibility for maximum performance and safety. The customised machines will join Ward’s existing fleet of lions, frogs, hedgehogs and other wildlife related equipment and support Ward’s recycling team primarily at its sites in Derbyshire.
Donald Ward, Head of Technical & Recycling at Ward Recycling said: “We’ve taken to customising our fleet along the theme of ‘Wild About Recycling’ as it livens up heavy industrial equipment, catches people’s attention and it’s a bit of fun, with a serious environmental message behind it. Educating people about the benefits of recycling and minimising waste to landfill has a positive environmental impact on wildlife for generations to come.
“The customisation reinforces Ward’s message and our investment in fit for purpose machinery from Liebherr, who deliver the reliability and robust build quality we need to support our operations. The back up and support we get from them as a manufacturer is second to none.”
Darren Bennet, National Accounts Manager at Liebherr added: “It’s great to see how Ward has customised the material handler and wheel loader – it certainly makes them stand out. At Liebherr we pride ourselves on giving our customers exactly what they need from our equipment and engineering, whether that’s LIDAT monitoring software, maximum manoeuvrability or bespoke boom and dipper configurations for a range of materials handling. This takes the bespoke nature of our equipment one step further and makes a real impact.”
The machines could also be let out into the wild once in a while to support external contracts in the demolition and construction sector, with Ward’s Special Projects team.
