Ward builds on award success with five further shortlistings
Ward, the Derbyshire-based metal, recycling and waste management specialist, is following on from its recent success at the Midlands Family Business Awards with five more awards shortlistings.
At the end of last year, Ward was crowned Family Business of the Year 2018 at the Midlands Family Business Awards, as well as the Fastest Growing Family Business. Building on this achievement, the firm will now go forward at the National finals for ‘Family Business of the Year’, with the winner decided at a special ceremony in Wembley, London in July.
Now in their 10th year, the National Family Business Awards are a celebration of the achievements and talents of extraordinary and unique family firms across the UK and Ireland.
Paul Andrews, Founder and Managing Director of Family Business United, the award-winning magazine and resource centre for family firms in the UK, explains, “We’ve been able to pull together a vibrant bunch of family businesses, some that have succeeded for numerous generations and continue to thrive, and others that are relatively young but have great values at the heart of what they do. Not only are the shortlisted firms in with a shot at taking the Midlands title, they are also in the running to be crowned the Best of British as the Supreme Champion Family Business of the Year for 2019.”
“Family firms are the backbone of the UK economy and cover all sectors of the business community too. Any one of those shortlisted would make worthy winners and ambassadors for the sector. Decisions to determine the winner will not be easy as we seek to identify another great ambassador to fly the flag for family businesses in the Midlands.”
Ward has also been recognised as a finalist across four categories of the Business Masters Awards , with BusinessDesk.com. These include ‘Large Business of the Year’, ‘Investment’, ‘International Trade’ and the ’Family Business of the Year’ categories.
This is the first time that the awards have celebrated the achievements of firms from all sectors across the East Midlands. The winners will be announced on Thursday 4 April at an awards ceremony at Crowne Plaza, Nottingham.
Donald Ward, Commercial Manager at Ward, said: “Being shortlisted as finalists in both these awards is a fantastic achievement and a true celebration to the phenomenal hard work of the team here at Ward.
“To be recognised across such a broad range of categories, and amongst such esteemed competition, is testament to Ward’s continued growth and reputation within the sector – we’re looking forward to celebrating these achievements on awards night. Fingers crossed we can do as well as in the Midlands Family Business Awards.”
