We are recruiting Class 2 Cover Drivers to join our professional HGV team across all locations: Ilkeston, Swadlincote, Chesterfield, Cardiff and York.
This permanent position would suit Class 2 drivers who are looking to increase their driving experience across a range of vehicles; or those who have a wealth of experience already. In this role, you will receive training to operate the following types of HGVs:
- Roll on Roll off
- Compaction trade waste
- Skip lorry
You will receive training across various vehicle types delivered by our excellent in-house team of driver-trainers and once you are ready and confident, you will undertake the Class 2 role independently. As a cover-driver, you can expect more variety in your working week but still with guaranteed permanent, full-time hours in the region of 50-60 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
You will play a key role in our business, transporting materials from our customers, to our processing sites. It is here that the materials (metal and waste) are processed and transformed into reusable materials before being transported to take their next step on their journey.
- Communicating with your planner and following daily schedules
- Liaising with customers and clients on site, maintaining good relationships
- Conducting thorough prestart vehicle checks
- Reporting any vehicle defects
- Following company Safe Operating Procedures
- Taking care of your vehicle
- Completing daily checks and paperwork
Skills and Knowledge Required:
The ideal candidate will have:
- LGV Cat C License (Class 2)
- Good geographical knowledge
- Tachograph/ digital smart card operation
